The Sports Precinct

“Marian College has a proud history of sporting participation and achievement, past and present. Our students love sport, and are always well supported by the staff who generously give their time to coach, manage, and help out. I am excited that we will have quality facilities for our school, which we will also be able to share with the wider community. A full-size gym will be a first for Marian College and has been long awaited. We have many past pupils who have achieved great things in sport and the new facilities will now inspire our current and future students.”

The gymnasium and surrounding covered sports areas will be a significant part of the new campus. The gymnasium will feature a full semi-sprung court and gallery seating for events, a classroom, weights room, changing rooms and a kitchenette. Four covered sports courts will also be part of this project and will be used for a multitude of different sports. The gymnasium and covered courts will host sport team practices and interschool competitions, with students representing their school with pride #marianmagic.

Members of the community will also be able to hire out the facilities to practise and host sporting events.

“Physical Education matters to me as a student because it’s a way that I get to learn more about the body and why being active is fundamental to us as humans. At the new school, having an area with a gym and sports courts will be terrific for PE as well as sporting and recreational use. It will also benefit the community due to having spaces to hire for other organisations and groups.”
